Ulcerative colitis (often referred to simply as "UC") is a chronic disease, which means it can get better and worse over time, but never goes away completely.

Since UC requires lifelong treatment, if you have ulcerative colitis you'll want to keep up with the latest news so that you can keep feeling your best. You can do this by learning about ways to keep the disease under control, including learning about new medications and treatments that may be right for you.

We will help you do this with our program, "Taking Charge of My UC," a series of interviews with physicians who specialize in treating patients with ulcerative colitis. The first interview in this new series is with Dr. Sunanda Kane, who shares her insights on why staying on medication is important.

We welcome your suggestions for topics that interest you and for ways that we can improve this website to make it more helpful to you.

Special note for physicians: Physicians can click here to read Dr. Kane's CME newsletter, New Options for Improving Patient Compliance, related to this website. This newsletter describes how to use this website to help patients understand their disease and stay on treatment.
